President, Governing Body Banipur Malila Mahavidyalaya, affiliated to West Bengal State University, is the first-ever women's college, in Banipur, Habra, N-24Parganas, West Bengal. It was established in the year 1999 to cater to the higher educational needs of the women in nearby areas as there was no women's college in between Barasat to Bangaon and Basirhat. The aim of this college is to lead women towards empowerment by intertwining academic excellence, games, and sports as well as the training for self-employment. The conservative mindset of the local people acts as a hindrance in the path of higher education for women even today and they are very much reluctant to send their girl child to co-educational institutions. Considering these factors, BMM has developed into an institution where students are empowered not only educationally but also learn moral values and social skills which will enhance their personality in future life. Students also participate in various games, sports, and athletic competitions at district and national levels as they receive excellent training from this college besides their educational training. Since its inception, the college has been committed to catering to higher education and women empowerment. The college despite all odds has been able to march ahead on its journey by setting benchmarks in results and other accomplishments. The college tries to improve its qualities and expanse to meet the need for emerging courses. The college has a committed Principal, teaching, and non-teaching staff as well as a solid Governing body to fulfill the fresh requirements of higher education. I ardently hope that our college will scale a new height of success in the days ahead.
